On the way home from my nephew Ethan's first communion at St. Martin's Lutheran Church . . .

"So Ethan, how do you feel buddy?"

"Excited!"

"Why are you excited?"

"Because now I can eat the candy at church!"

"What candy?! I didn't see any candy!"

"The bread candy!"

"Ohhhh. The Jesus candy?"

"Yeah."

"And what does the Jesus candy do for you, Ethan?"

"It excites me!"

"What is the bread?"

"Jesus."

"And what's the wine?"

"Blood."

"And what does it mean when you eat the body and drink the blood of Jesus?"

"It means . . . I get to chop people up. Chop chop chop!"

"Oh dear . . . "
